venturethree asked the next generation of creative talent to help tackle one of the largest projects on earth, then showcased the best at a UN special exhibition.
We’ve been working with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) on an on-going brief to promote the Great Green Wall to the world. We opened this brief further by inviting final year BA GMD students at London College of Communications (LCC) to help us make the Wall famous.
In answering the brief, students were asked to think about raising awareness in unexpected ways using non-traditional media. We also wanted the students to express the positivity and dynamism of what is an incredibly optimistic, ambitious initiative.
After an overwhelming response, 10 students were selected to exhibit their work at our studio, sharing their ideas with an audience that included representatives from the UN, and the Executive Secretary of the UNCCD, Monique Barbut. Three pieces of work have now been selected for further development and could well be brought to life in 2016.
This generation of creatives will play a key role in tackling the global issues of tomorrow. They will be the ones driving projects like the Great Green Wall.
This generation of creatives will play a key role in tackling the global issues of tomorrow, ensuring the success of projects such as the Great Green Wall. Both the UN and everyone at v3 were hugely impressed by the quality of thinking, imagination and the effort put in by all of the students involved. We are facing some enormous problems, but if this experience shows anything, it’s that it we have the talent to solve them.
